Quilting is a journey, presenting many
opportunities to explore creativity. This present path has me exploring
thread – of all fiber and weight -and the delightful work that comes
from letting go and seeing what comes next. The endless possibilities
are exciting.
Teaching machine quilting is one of my
very favorite experiences. As the students begin to get the process and
understand how all of the components come together the excitement
builds. I work toward an understanding of how each component from
tension & needles to batting and fabric choices all effect machine
quilting and how minor adjustment will allow the machine quilting process
to flow more smoothly. ”You can do this!” is often spoken in class
with the gentle reminder that the process will take a little time and
that’s fine.
Writing and designing patters is an
exciting part of my Quilt Life that I’m honored to take part in. These
opportunities to share and teach and grow as a quilter.

Artists Statement:
Spontaneous serendipity describes my path of quilting in my two most recent series of quilts. The City series and the Serendipity series push the traditional boundaries of whole cloth quilt making. These unique quilts explore how thread, color and fiber affects the overall design of the quilt. This approach flows into my teaching as I encourage students to venture beyond their initial impressions and see where that may lead them in their quilting adventures.
